We work with remote and disadvantaged communities, especially Datoga pastoral nomads, whose boys and girls are disadvantaged in accessing and benefiting from better education because their society doesn’t know the importance of education. 91 girls and boys have benefited from the sponsorship program, who are now independent, having their own jobs, and others are working in Public Companies. Currently, 200 children are getting support in enabling them to get an education at various stages from primary school to Universities. Daeyeg Foundation championed the establishment of Eshkesh Primary school by contributing to the construction of 4 classrooms and 2 teachers’ offices, as well as 1 teachers’ building.
We promote easy access and benefits from quality education for all, especially the marginalized pastoral communities of Datoga, due to the hardships they face, where early marriage is an order of the day, and even girls themselves accept it. We are the centre of refuge for the victims of forced and early marriage. So many talents, like good runners, footballers, and so many other talents, are disappearing after their primary education. Daeyeg is dedicated to strengthening communities of Datoga to explore opportunities in their cultural heritages and practices that can serve as a source of income, identity, promotion and preservation of useful cultural practices, which we call local best practices. Due to the high level of illiteracy of the community (datoga) we serve, we have provided basic literacy and numeracy to women, children and young people to be able to know how to read and write. The classes were tailor-made classes to suit the schedules of each target group to encourage young people to join a crash program in the formal system where they could achieve the education they missed in previous years.
